How we write our articles
Who publishes the articles
The articles in the guide are published by the Contraction Timer editorial team. Marcel Friedrich is responsible for the content; full details are in the imprint.
What the articles are based on
Every statement about timing, intervals, numbers and warning signs is based on publicly available guidelines and health information. These include the NHS, the NICE guideline NG235, ACOG patient information and patient guides from hospitals such as Cleveland Clinic. Each article lists its sources at the end. We keep the full references, with web addresses and access dates, on file.
When sources give different numbers, for example the 5-1-1 and 4-1-1 rules or the length of the stages of labor, we give both and say where each comes from.
How current the articles are
Below each article title you can see when it was published or last updated. When a guideline that an article cites changes, we revise the article and update the date.
What the articles cannot do
The articles do not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. They help you make sense of contractions and prepare questions for your midwife, doctor or hospital. If you notice warning signs, call your hospital right away, and in an emergency call your local emergency number (911 in the US, 999 in the UK).
Advertising and our own app
The articles contain no paid content. Where it fits the topic, we point to our own app and the free online contraction timer.
Report a mistake
If you spot a mistake in an article, write to support@babyjourney.studio. We check every report and correct the article if it is wrong.
